Support
Something not working, or a question the app doesn't answer? Write to us — a real person reads every message.
We usually reply within two working days.
It helps a lot if you include your iPhone model, your iOS version, and the app version (Settings → About inside Surtaal).
Purchases and subscriptions
I paid, but Premium isn't showing
Open Surtaal, go to the Premium screen and tap Restore. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with — purchases are tied to the Apple Account, not to your Surtaal account.
If it still doesn't appear, email us the date of purchase and we'll sort it out.
How do I cancel my subscription?
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Select Surtaal and tap Cancel Subscription
You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases go through Apple, so refunds are Apple's decision — we can't issue them ourselves. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If the app is at fault, please also tell us so we can fix it.
I switched to a new iPhone
Sign in with the same account and your patterns, practice history and favourites will sync down. Then tap Restore on the Premium screen to bring your purchase across.
Recordings are stored on the device and are not synced, so move them over with an iPhone-to-iPhone transfer or an encrypted backup before wiping the old phone.
Sound and the tuner
The tuner isn't picking anything up
Check that Surtaal has microphone access: Settings → Surtaal → Microphone. Also make sure nothing is covering the bottom microphone, and that no other app (a call, a voice memo, another music app) is holding the mic.
The tuner shows the wrong swara
The tuner reads pitch relative to the Sa you have set. If everything reads consistently sharp or flat by the same amount, your Sa is set to a different pitch than the one you're singing to — set it and try again.
No sound, or sound only through the speaker
Check the silent switch and the volume. If you're on Bluetooth, note that wireless headphones add a delay that makes playing along to a taal difficult — wired headphones or the built-in speaker are much better for rhythm practice.
Playback stutters or crackles
Close other audio apps and try again. If it persists, tell us your iPhone model and what you were playing at the time.
Recordings
Where are my recordings kept?
On your device. They are never uploaded to us or anyone else, which also means they aren't part of the sync between devices and won't come back on their own if you delete the app.
I deleted the app and lost my recordings
Unfortunately they're gone — since recordings never leave the device, we have no copy to restore. Your patterns, practice history and favourites will sync back when you sign in again.
Account
I forgot my password
Tap Forgot password on the sign-in screen and we'll email you a reset link. If you originally signed in with Apple or Google, use that same button instead — those accounts have no separate password.
How do I delete my account and data?
Email info@ktm-studio.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll remove your account and the practice content synced to our server. See the Privacy Policy for what's held.
Report a bug or ask for a feature
We read everything and a good deal of Surtaal exists because someone asked for it. Send the details to info@ktm-studio.com.
